Can I delete contents in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\Downloads?

The folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate Administrator\Downloads is way to big on my server, and is draging it down on space.

At this point it is about 3.5 GB in size.

When I googled the folder I found this link: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/es/idea/manage-size-cdocuments-and-settingsall-usersapplication-datasymantecliveupdatedownloads-directo

So I tried that, but strange thing is that it allready was set at 350 MB and not 3.5 GB, then I tried to clear the cache, it did but it wasn't that folder that got cleared...

So I wonder if I can manually delete the contents of the folder, and where in SEPM can I set it to use only a fragment of the space it's using now?

Great, is there somewhere i SEPM I can set it up to use not so much space? Otherwise I have to do it on a regular basis, and I don't want that.

You can delete the contents of the folder but do not delete the downloads folder itself.
Do not delete the content when LUA is running a download schedule as it will corrupt the definitions.

In fact I am in confusion .The location what you are telling is default location of downloading updations in LUA and you are telling problem is with SEPM.Whether both are installed in same box?

This is not related SEPM but it is related to Liveupdate Administrator ( LUA ). So if you are not using LUA best would be to un-install it.

Yes, I have installed both SEPM (v11) and LUA on the same server, as it has Backup Exec installed to, and I figured that it would be smart to automatically update both programs through LUA.

I thought it was working flawlessly until I discovered this problem.

When I Googled the folder, I found this link: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/es/idea/manage-size-cdocuments-and-settingsall-usersapplication-datasymantecliveupdatedownloads-directo and from that I just thought it was related to SEPM, but it isn't I guess.

But perhaps I should just uninstall LUA, and go back to the manually update of SEPM and Backup Exec. If I can't find out how to configure the foldersize.

Hmm, just deleted the content of the folder, and now LUA isn't working right. I can't see which programs I have setup in here, and is just says "Application error, please contact the system administrator".

So now I think it stands between a reinstall or an uninstall.

In SEPM -admin - servers - Local Site ( Properties ) - Liveupdate - Content revisions to keep
keep it to 3 if you have 100-200 client or keep it 10 if you have 100 clients.
this content revisions to keep manages the folder size.

    Hi Mhystique,

I very strongly encourage you to uninstall LUA from the same server as the SEPM.  It is unsupported to have both on one physical server!

LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager on the Same Physical Server

Unless there are many non-SEP Symantec products all throughout your organization, you are probably best allowing the SEPM to handle all teh SEP clients itself and the few BE servers to update directly.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick
