I remotely manage 6 labs where people change everything on the computers frequently.  Is there a way to stay remote and completely manage the computers remotely regardless of the OS while useing GSS2.0?

I'm not sure if this totally answers your question but if someone reinstalls the operating system independantly, and it doesn't contain the Ghost Console Client they you would have to reinstall the client remotely in order to manage that machine again.

The closest you can get -

    1. Set up the included 3Com PXE server
    2. Then using Ghost Boot Wizard: Create a Ghost Console client pxe boot image and add this as an item to the 3Com PXE boot menu.

Effectively, this will provide console control for reimaging anytime a machine is restarted.

There is one important thing to note about this configuration though. If there is no ghost client present in the restored configuration, console will report step 'to target operating system' failed. The clone step will still complete successfully though.

Although limited, this is a useful configuration for test labs where zero touch guaranteed clean operating system images are required.

In combination with parameterised task execution, remote restart with Microsoft's shutdown.exe, and separately, the ability to write to 3Com's BOOTPTAB control file on the fly, there is further potential for adapting this configuration for console managed remote self service.

Separately, I believe it is possible to install the console client in a hidden boot partition. With a little adaption, I'd guess there is potential to make this work in a very similar way to the above, and without the requirement for a pxe server. However, I'd guess you would still have a few extra hoops to jump through to achieve the same outcome using this method.
