Hi, We have an application which is still 32-bit. It can run under Windows Virtual PC XP Mode (on Windows 7 64-bit workstations). The problem is that while SEP 12 is installed on the Windows 7 machine, the virtual PC does not have any antivirus software installed.

Can SEP install on the Virtual PC XP Mode?

I am having an issue where the installation of SEP12 RU4MP1 32bit fails on the Virtual PC XP Mode. Please see attached SEP_INST.log and assist.

    Thanks in advanced.

Yes absolutely. The host does not provide protection to VMs. So you need to install on each VM as well

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

Each running instance (physical and/or virtual) must be with SEP installed.

This construes two installations of SEP client and requires two licenses per piece of hardware configured in this manner.

    Refer this thread as well:

Thanks for the logs & It's a known issue with SEP 12.1 RU4 MP1 version.

I see same error in the log: ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() Look for timeout starting SepMasterService or other failure loading SIS.dll.

Follow this article to resolve issue:

Thanks for your assistance. The user is at another site and was told that the Windows Updates were up-to-date on the machine. After gettting access to the machine, the Windows Updates were far out-of-date. I updated the certificates and installed SEP with no issues.

    Thanks again
