Standard first reply in this case.  Firewall?

Firewall is not enabled. The remote install went fine, just cant see the machine in the default folder on the ghost console.

I am assuming you can ping the server from the client?  ie.. name resolution works.  There is a ngctw32.log file in the program files\symantec\ghost folder for gss 2.0 and up.  That file will tell you what the client is doing regarding communications with the console.  If it just says "polling for bound server XXX" over and over at the end of the file then it can't find it.  If its got the wrong name or an IP address that is like 229.x.x.x then it could be name resolution.  You might try stopping the client service then replacing the pubkey.crt file in the above folder with the one from the server then restarting the client but that is most likely a long shot.

pinging is fine between server and workstation, using ip and name. I see the ngctw32.log file but it`s not doing anything when i double click on it?

If that file is empty then it almost sounds like the ghost client service isnt even running.

What i have observed when the service is running on a client but not connecting to the console there is an icon in the tray with a red X in the middle of it.

I have looked at the services and the Symantec Ghost Win32 Client Agent is set to Automatic and is running. But still no machine showing up in the default folder.

I am also having the same problem, i roll the client out from the console, it says it has installed succesfully, the client shows as running and conected to the configuration server, but it does not appear in the consloe?

The firewall is turned off by domain policy on my network. This happens intermittently and not with all boxes.
