Cannot sign: An error has occurred: Simultaneous writes to a shared key DB detected

    I just installed Symantec Encryption Desktop.  I imported a key and am trying to sign it to mark it verified.  Each time I try, I get this dialog:

    Cannot sign

    <person's name>

    An error has occurred. Simultaneous writes to a shared key DB detected.

    Another post suggests relaunching PGP to resolve.  I have tried several times, rebooted multiple times.  This happens every time.

    Please advise.  Thanks.

    p.s. I had PGP tools installed a few years ago, and when I installed the tools, it found my old keys.  This is a new laptop that my company's IT dept configured and copied data over from the old one.
