    Hello,

    GSS 3.1 MP2

    WinPE10

    Running on Windows 7 Pro

Everything's working fine unless I tried to image a lab with more than 21 computers. It doesn't make a difference whether I use the Ghost cast server or in the main console, everytime only 21 will connect & the others say bad credentials 1223. I've tried several times & it's never the same computers that error out. The first ones to hit 21 are fine & the rest error out. I do an ipconfig on one of the failed computers & it does have a correct dhcp IP & can ping the console. Doesn't matter if I do a lab of 25 or 31, still get only 21.

    Any ideas please?

Windows 7 has a concurrent connection limit of 20 for most of it's network services. There are workarounds to this but they all go against the license terms (a quick search will throw up a ton of results). You would need to use a server edition to increase this limit.

To add to Fantus_Longhorn's comment.  When your target workstations boot into Automation they automatically map a network drive to your GSS server.  This mapping is one concurrent connection.  Multiply this by 20 workstations and you hit your 20 concurrent connection limit.  Unfortunately there isn't a way, at least that I've discovered, to get around this drive mapping requirement of GSS 3.0+.

I've posted about this exact same issue before.  If we install an Automation Folder why can't information about an upcoming imaging process be copied to that location and have the agent loaded locally?  Or, why does the agent require a persistent connection to the GSS console?  Why can't it start, pull the necessary information directly from the SQL server and then terminate the connection?  Wanting to bring these types of concerns up again in hopes that someone from Symantec will see it and look at implementing these types of changes into the product.

    wrededs,

This forum post may have a resolution for the issue:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/18667011-c034-43bc-ab2e-0e87bf811e5e/windows-7-increase-the-limit-of-concurrent-tcp-connections-not-related-to-eula-file-sharing?forum=w7itpronetworking

It notes a registry key that can be changed, though one respondent to the thread could not find that in his Win7 registry, nor can I find it in mine. It may be worth your while to install on a server operating system. Officially, the GSS 3.x Console does not support installation on Windows 7, and every install i have seen on that OS has not worked.

    Thank you,
