  • 1.  Can't remove McAfee antivirus to install Norton AV 2010?

    Posted Jun 19, 2010 01:06 PM

My computer had both a worm and a trojan virus....had McAfee antivirus, but decided to buy and install Norton AV 2010.  Tried to remove McAfee using Control Panel....it said it couldn't remove it completely.  When I try to remove it with the Norton AV installation process....it says to contact the 'technical support' area...but I can't seem to find out how to do this?   The Norton AV won't install until the other AV is completely out....how do I do this??

Use the Mcafee Consumer Products Removal tool before installing Norton.

    Instructions - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

    Tool location - http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Use a tool like our Norton Security Scan or Power Eraser to rid your system of threats before installing Norton.
