Have a computer that has Windows XP Operating system and Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005.440. Once in a while when this computer is shut down, the user receives an error that CcApp.exe will not shut down. Manual shutdown is required.

The thing is, only one computer is experiencing this. All other PCs with SEP (same version) are fine.

    Ideas?

    Thanks,

    Tony

if you selected the option scan floppy disk on shutdown; disable that in Av/As policy

    and try the loggin off

     or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ AutoEndTasks  and set the value to 1
BUT IT IS JUST A WORK AROUND NOT THE SOLUTION

I believe the solution is to migrate up to 11.0.6200 (RU6 MP2):

"CCApp is trying to close" dialog no longer appears on shutdown
    Fix ID: 2077858
Symptom: Under a high workload while a computer is shutting down, occasionally the dialog box "CCApp is trying to close" appears.
Solution: Code changes to ensure the shutdown signal is correctly received and processed by all application processes that are running.

Yes, The steps I have given above are just Work Arounds for fixing it on all machines the best way would be to migrate as it is a known issue of 11.0.6 MP1 ( the one you are using )

    Try re registering msxml.dll

Go to start run >type regsvr32 msxml.dll and check

Upgrade to latest version should fix the issue.

    Hi All,

We have been using the latest version 11.0.6 from the beginning and the ccapp error still occurs. We have a couple of thousand endoints and this is happening on around a third.

Scanning floppies on shutdown has been turned off too.

If the version is not showing as 11.0.6200, you're not at the latest version.
