    Hi!..
Does the RU6 MP1 fix the problem with the ccapp.exe at the shutdown process?
    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/docid/2010061410233448?Open&seg=ent

The Release Notes did not mentioned it.

    Regards!

If it is not mentioned in release notes then it was not addressed. Do you have an open case with support for this? If so, can you provide the case number? I do not see anything in our tracking system that mentions this problem.

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Thanks for bringing this to our notice. You are right the release notes for RU6 MP1 does not mention the ccapp.exe not responding issue. I will keep you updated on this issue. The document mentioned by you is the latest one.

This issue is slated to be fixed in the next release of SEP as the issue is still investigation.

As a workaround you can try this

Take the backup of the regisrty and then

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ AutoEndTasks  and set the value to 1

BUT IT IS JUST A WORK AROUND NOT THE SOLUTION

Alsom, you  could  try  to disable the Symantec Antivirus add-in in outlook, and  to delete  all the  extend.dat  files...

I am just going through our deployment testing for RU6 MP1 now. Thankyou for your post about these problems, every time I look at upgrading our version there is also a post here about that version having issues, problem... I think my bloody presures increases 50% everytime I go to release a new version to our production environment. Because people always remember when things go worng and not when they go right and with this type of product it can go very wrong in a big way very quickly.

On a side note, Cycletech, not relating to this topic but in response to your comments about release notes, I have had a case where the installation of MR4 Mp2 resolved the problem. The release notes for MR4 MP2 did not mention this fix. I was told by the Symantec Tech at the time it was a fix that was not a publicly disclosed.

So you statement is not always true.

How are other companies handling this?  It is a pretty big annoyance for users, and I've been asked if rolling back to the version we were using before is an option.

It seems like the two options are to turn on AutoEndTasks or to turn off scanning Outlook email.  Are there others that I've missed?

If you turn on AutoEndTasks, will that force-close applications with unsaved changes, eg, if you have a Word document open with unsaved changes.  If so, that seems like a pretty big risk.

    Thanks,

    Paul
