    Quick question.

I was told by the Symantec instructor at the CCS v9.0 class that the Policy Management module in R & A is included.  However, our license is not allowing me to use it and our sales rep is telling us it's not included any longer.

Is anyone else using Policy Management and are you having to pay a separate cost for this module?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Yes, you need a separate license  for it...

Note that, one.slf file may contain license  for all the  modules in it....but you PAY for  it...only then  it is included in the  .slf file.

You can open the  .slf file in a notepad, and  see   what  licenses are included..

We signed a multi-year contract with or Symantec reseller which included at the time the licenses for policy manager, sccs, standards (with a few exceptions for some ISO modules).

I looked at the invoice we have it mentions managed user and managed server licenses but nothing about policy manager. I opened  few of the license keys and did fine some of them with the Symantec Control Compliance Suite 10 Standards Module text

is this in 10.5? or are you working in 10.0?

I'm working with 10.0 right now.

I looked in my license files and there is no mention of Policy Manager.

What I also was wondering is whether or not we didn't get the Policy piece of CCS because we converted from SecurityExpressions (we didn't have a choice since SE was being dropped from support).

    Thanks!

VKalani - yes, I've already done this but still waiting to hear back.  As I mentioned, our area compliance rep says it's not included.  Just trying to get a feel from current customers if it was included in their agreements in case our rep is mistaken.

    Thanks!

We own licenses for the module, but have never really made use of it.  It's a good concept, but I don't think the delivery is really there.  The interface isn't the greatest and it seems to assume that you're OK editing policy in a little tiny embedded window.  I find that the approvers like to see "tracked changes" so they don't have to read the entire thing and try to figure out what is changed.

But maybe I just haven't figured enough out in the module to make better use of it.

You will require a separate license for the PM module - This is not included by default. The same goes for the ISO standard pack - If you need to use the ISO standards in CCS.
