  • 1.  CEM Configuration of SMP & Site Servers

    Good day all,

    Trust you are well.

I'v been playing with CEM and got to a point of implementation. Works 100%. Well that is with a specific design...

I have the standard setup. SMP on the domain, CEM server in the DMZ. My CEM is configured with the SMP and the associated Site Server for that SMP and clients are acting as expected.

Now, on another domain, i have the same setup with the exception of the following: I have added my SMP to the CEM configuration and clients can communicate just fine. The issue comes in with the package download. I have not specified a Site Server as the SMP provides this roll on the domain, and when i try and specify my SMP again, but this time as a Site Server, I am unable to do so as it is allready configured as a Notification server in my CEM configuration.

What are my options besides adding a seperate Site Server for this environment?

Thank you in advance for all the suggestions.

    Hi Eugene,

    Note:

    1) If you have added your 2nd SMP Server in CEM Gateway and you don't have any other remote Site Servers in this environment (such as Task Server or Package Server), then your clients in CEM mode will download packages from your SMP server and registered with your Task Server on SMP Server.

    2) This is expected, that you cannot to add SMP servers as "Site Server" on CEM gateway.

    Question:
    1) What error message appears on client in CEM mode, which isn't able to download package from SMP server through CEM gateway?

    2) Just to confirm: Your 2nd SMP server, which is added in CEM Gateway, doesn't have any other remote Site Servers and SMP server is a TS and PS in one time?

    3) Did you properly configured settings on "Site Server Management" SMP console page? Site(s)/Subnet(s)/Assignments/Package Server codebases publishing?

    Thanks,

    IP.

    HI IP,

    Thanks for the response.

Please see below for the answers to your questions:

    1) I have a few errors relating to "No connection to server", "Local package server not found", "Network path not found" & "Local codebase hae not been received from NS. trying to get it from local PS". I think this has to do with point number 3.

    2) The 2nd SMP I added has a few remote Site Servers on the domain, but none of them was added to the CEM as i want clients to receive packages from the SMP. The SMP is a TS and PS.

    3) I never asigned my SMP as a Site Server to my Default Internet Site, i have done this now so the settings probably needs to still process and update on the client.

    Will monitor throughout the day.

    Kind Regards,

    Eugene

    Hi Igor,

I am still facing the same issue after I applied setting as mentioned in step 3.

Same errors are also in the logs.

    Hi Eugene,

    Summary:

    • SMP Server has TS and Package Server installed
    • SMP Server has no other Site Server and works itself as TS and PS for clients.
    • SMP Server is added in CEM Gateway as NS:4726

    Problem:

    • Clients in CEM mode aren't able to download packages through CEM Gateway from SMP local PS.

    Actions:

    1. What if you will remove locally installed "PS" from SMP Server (on Site Server Management page) and perform "NS.Package Refresh" scheduled task. After that CEM client is able to download packages from SMP through CEM Gateway?
    2. Do you have correct HTTPs binding for "Default Web Site":443 on SMP Server where PS is locally installed? --- Do you have enabled "Publish HTTPs codebases" on Site Server Management page.

    Thanks,

    IP.

    Hi Igor,

    Thanks for the prompt resply.

    To answer:

    1) I will go ahead and remove the PS function from my SMP

    2) I do have the correct bindings and it is publishing HTTPs codebase to the clients.

Will revert back with my findings soon, thanks again :)

Thank you once again Igor for the assistance. Removing the PS from my SMP allowed my CEM agent to start downloading packages.

Appreciate your assistance on this forum.
