    Hi,

I'm currently migrating users to a new PGP server following this article (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO79579).  The migration is going fine with the exception of the requirement to change the bootguard screen from the simple screen of passphrase only to detailed, where it asks for username, password and domain.

All info I've read on this seems to indicate that setting the policy to be detailed should cause the client to change but this doesn't seem to be working for me.

Clients are running 10.0.2 whereas the server is running 10.0.3, could this be an issue?  So far the only way I've found to get this working is to upgrade the clients to 10.0.3 but this is extra work i'd like to avoid if possible.

All other settings in the policy are applying correctly so i think the client is accepting the policy and the policy appears fine but for some reason bootguard stays in the simple mode.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

    Thanks,

    Neil

Do you mean you upgraded the Encryption server to 3.3 and the end users are on 10.2?

10.0.x is a pretty old release

There is something about Advanced customisation added in 10.0.3, which might be why you're able to do it (assuming you are actually talking about 10.0.3, and not 10.3)

    • Added support for multiple advanced preferences that allow for additional customizations to the PGP WDE Bootguard screen. The new preferences are bgStaticUpperTextEnabled, bgStaticLowerTextEnabled, bgStaticTitleTextEnabled, and bgAdvancedInfoTextEnabled. [19849]

    Hi,

Sorry I'm new to PGP so I'm not using the correct name for the various components.

Existing clients who have a simple (passphrase only) BG screen use PGP Desktop version 10.1.2

Existing clients who have a detailed BG screen use PGP Desktop version 10.2.0 (I don't need to worry about these)

New server is Symantec Encryption Server version 3.3.0

The issue I have is that i want everyone on the new PGP server to be using the detailed BG.  From the documentation I've read, setting detailed BG on the user policy on the PGP server and updating the policy on the users machine should change this, however it doesn't work and won't change.  The only way I've gotten round this is to upgrade the PGP Desktop to version 10.3.0 from the MSI i download from the server.

So my question is, should 10.1.2 PGP Desktop clients pick up the change to a detailed BG or was this on introduced in later versions of the client?

    Thanks,

    Neil

Looking at the release notes, this functionality was actually introduced in 10.2.0:

So unfortunately if you want this functionality, your best bet is to upgrade to the latest version
