  • 1.  Changing NIC in Hyper-V VM

    Hello, I need to move our existing SMG VM to another Hyper-V Cluster, so I exported the existing one and imported it into the new Hyper-V Host. After starting the VM there was no eth0 anymore, even though there is one in the VM Hardware settings. How can I re-configure the eth0 interface?

    One solution is to use the same MAC address of the NIC on the new Hyperv cluster. (VM settings > Network adapter > Advanced features > Mac address - static).

    Another solution is to deploy new VM and restore the backup from the old SMG. Make sure to use static MAC from the start and document the setting somewhere where it can be easily found if needed.

    Just add a new nic to the virtual and remove any existing nics.
