  • 1.  Choice the private key for sign a message with PGP desktop

    Hello,

I have a problem with PGP desktop, more precisely when I need to sign a message for a customer.

In our company all users have PGP desktop installed on the computer (win7) configured to communicate with the Symantec Encryption server.

    Client version: 10.1.2 (GKM management)

    Server Version: 3.3.2 MP13 (Build 21495)

We use Outlook for send messages to our customer. In Outlook we manage differents mail box. In the pgp desktop each user has differents private keys related to these differents mail box.

Now the problem when I write a message from the mailbox1 (for example) to a customer, when I select sign the message, PGP desktop uses my personal private key for sign the message but not the private key from the mailbox1. In pgp desktop, I see that the default key is mine and I can’t change.

I would like that each time that I sign a message, pgp desktop ask with which key I would like to sign the message.

    Does anyone have a solution?

It sounds like you have a group mailbox, for example, "hiroki_tanaka@toyota.com" and also "sales_team@toyota.com"? So, to clarify, you want "sales_team@toyota.com" to have its own key for sending?

In Advanced Settings, have you tried "Generate separate signing subkey"?

Although I think it will still be associated with an individual account/passphrase. Whoever is your Exchange administrator could help perhaps.

    Hello,

    thank you for your message.

not exactly. In my company I have access to different mailbox with my Outlook account. For example my private mailbox  is AlexBA@mycompany and I have also access to the system1@mycompany and system2@mycompany.

Now when I write an email :

    From :system1@mycompany

    to: customer@customer.com

I would like to sign this message with the private key from system1@mycompany, but PGP desktop don't let me choice, and by default sign the message with my personnal private key ( AlexBA@mycompany). For the customer we distribute the public key for system1@mycompany and system2@mycompany, but never the public key from the users.

For info, in the local keyring of PGP desktop I have the priv/pub for AlexBA@mycompany, system1@mycompany and system2@mycompany.

I hope that the description is a little more clear.
