Client Managment Suite -  What permissions I need to add to allow a security role to access the Software Views on Altiris 8.0 Console.

Working with roles and permissions on the Altiris is always tiring. In your case, there is, maybe, a way to turn this faster and easier than creating and new role from scratch.

I suggest you clone the role "Asset Managers" and start adding or removing permissions from there. But before change anything in your new role, try if this new role can do what you want.

At least on CMS 8.0 HF4 released build, as example for "Symantec Guests" role to see Software Filters on "ITMS Management Views" page

1. Open SMP Console ⇒ "Settings" ⇒ "Security" ⇒ "Security Role Manager"

• "Role:" drop-down menu, choose your "Security Role"
• Click on "Glasses" to see hidden items.
• "View:" drop-down menu, choose "Resources"
•  Click on "+" button ⇒ expand "Resource Management" folder ⇒ expand "Filters" folder ⇒ expand "ITMS Management Views Filters" folder ⇒ expand "Software Filters" (Or click on "Software Filters" folder) folder and choose what exact folder should be visible for your chosen "Security Role" and click "OK".

2. By default it will give a "Read" permissions for selected Resource and now your "Security Role" should be able to see chosen filters regarding Software on ITMS Management Views page.

Note:

Don't forget to add required permissions for appropriate software resources to make possible to see "Software Products", "Software Releases" in there Views for your "Security Role".
