  • 1.  Clients failing install

I've been scratching my head for the last few hours trying to figure out why these Windows 10 clients are failing.  I've done the following so far....

disabled windows firewall, ensured remote registry service is running and started, disabled UAC and added registry entry, and disabled Windows defender.  Any ideas on what else I can try?

This is a new deployement of SEPM 14 and some are previous clients with 12.x version and/or no AV at all.

It looks like the client successfully installed but are you having issue replacing the communication (sylink) file? I want to make sure I'm clear here.

No they're not installing.  I'm not seeing the client populate within the Endpoint manager.  They seem to only transfer if the deployment status and communication update status are successfull.

If you check the %temp% or %systemroot%\temp directory on the client, is there a SEP_INST.log file there?

    Look in C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\14.0.XXX.XXXX\Data\Install\Logs, is a SIS_INST.log or RORU.log file there?

If so, you can post here for review.

Another thing I would do is get access to an affected client and download and run the SymDiag tool. This tool will check for any issues and report them back to you:

Download SymDiag to detect Symantec product issues

Ok, I'll try the tool.  Also that directory doesn't exist on the clients that I try to push.  This last batch I just now tried were Win 7 with no AV and I get the same error message.
