  • 1.  Clients unable to browse windows network

I have installed Endpoint Protection (12.1) on a server 2008 install.  The install has gone smoothly with remote push to clients (Xp and Win7).  However, I have noticed a small issue with XP clients.  They are unable to browse the network from the windows applet.  If you know the name of the sytem you can browse to it directly.  However, this is not the case with the majority of my users.  I have tried going through the settings on the SEP but have not found anything that could possibly be blocking this.

I'm thinking that the best approach without any overt cause would be to create a rule to allow ALL traffic through.  If this works it would indicate that SEP with the default rules is blocking comms somehow.  Then use this as a start to test discrete rules ona test system?  Would appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks much.

    Hello,

Have a look at the following KB:

The version 12.1 Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager's (SEPM) Client Deployment Wizard fails with an error which states it cannot browse the network

    Hope that helps!!
