  • 1.  Cloning SEP Manager VM

Hi guys, we are going to be cloing/replicating our SEP Manager VM running 14.1 to Azure.

The hostname will remain the same but the IP address will change.

I've seen a few articles explaining how to migrate SEPM to another server but is there a process for cloning the VM that I can follow?

is it the DR process I should follow?

if you take a clone of the cloud.  If the clients can communicate using the FQDN and is already updated in MSL then it should be able to communicate ( unless firewall in between). Also before moving to cloud, set an MSL for the ip address ( new). However, you should be able to check is the SEPM and DB able to communicate? whats the protocol currently used by SEP client to SEPM, if already on 443 then it can be tested.

Hi, Im not sure what you mean when you say "if you take a clone of the cloud"?

My SEPM VM is running on vmware, we are going to replicate it (clone it) to Azure.

The name of the server will remain the same but the IP address will change.

Do I need to make any changes to the config in any way? Will the clients continue to connect to it once its moved?

Is the VM clone taken from premise to cloud? then fqdn and other factors needs to be considered. Hence asked if you moving to cloud?

As you already may be aware that the SEP client to SEPM communication is either through IP or FQDN, hence communication should not be a problem if it can reach using the hostname .

Hi, yes it will be a VM clone taken from on premise to cloud.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I assume there will not be an issue with the license? It is not associated with the existing VM in any way?

As far I'm aware there is no license restriction in which you want to move from Symantec side.
