I received an alert from Windows Security Center warning me that my Malware protection was not up to date.  When I expand the dropdown in WSC, it reports that "Symantec Endpoint Protection is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a manner which is no longer supported."  Is this a known issue?  Is there a fix?  For now I have told WSC not to monitor SEP any more, but that is not a very satisfying solution.

This was known issue in previous version of Symantec Endpoint Protection.
It has been fixed in RU/MR 5 ( 11.0.5002.333 ) . So make sure you upgrade your SEP to 11.0.5002.333
Which you can download from https://fileconnect.symantec.com

Here is the release notes for RU/MR5

And the doc up migrate to MR5 is in my sig.

Keep in mind that while WSC is saying that SEP is reporting in a format that is not supported, SEP is still working correctly. As Vikram said you should upgrade to RU5 if you want WSC to stop the annoying message. However this happened because Microsoft switched up the format they use to communicate with the anti-virus so it is not really a bug since SEP is still working correctly, but it is WSC that is not reading your version of SEP correctly. Anyway RU5 will fix your issue.

I just installed RU5 on Vista 64-bit and WSC reports that SEP is out of date even live update has run and has the most recent definitions. What can be done about this? I also installed on 32-bit XP Pro and it works fine.

Do you tried by repairing the client from add/remove programs?
