    Hi all,

I have 4 brand new Dell Latitude E5450 i7 8GB Ram and 500GB HDD WIN 7 64Bit, all laptops suffered from a decreased performance once I install the SymantecEncryptionDesktopWin64-10.4.1 software and encrypt the drive (Single partition is used), the computers becomes like an old 486, I noticed heay disk activity, very slow boot (more than 10 min)

Any idea why this is happening?

    Thank you in advanced

Is this during the initial encrpytion process, or has encryption completed?

While disk encryption will always impact performance, it's typically quite small (and certainly shouldn't cause a 10min boot time on a new machine) when disk encryption is complete.

Also, as these are brand new are you certain these are HDDs and not SSDs?  If the latter, I'd also recommend reviewing the below article:

This is after the encryption process is completed.

all laptops use solid state drives, I will double check and get back with more information

    Thank you

This is to confirm that all laptops use a solid state drives

If you're just using this for disk encryption, perhaps try using SEE instead?  It supports hardware encryption of SSDs that are opal v2 compliant; you'd get much better performane with that:

For your current issue though, if the first KB article I posted didn't help, then you will likely have to log with Symantec.  I didn't see any other related articles in my cursory search
