  • 1.  Create Resource Association for SMP

This may be a SMP question but I figured I would ask it here first before I made my way over to that forum. I'm using the Create Resource Association for SMP to associate a computer with the package service to automate my package server staging process. I'm getting the error "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation". I can use this component with other associations like SubnetforSite but no luck with this one. I've tried populating a number of different GUIDs in the Parent Resource but none have worked. Any ideas or pointers? Or maybe just a better way of doing this? I wasn't able to add the computer to the Site Servers filter nor was I able to just manually run the package on the client machine, it looks like it has to be associated first for the latter. I looked at a few stored procedures and the closest one I found required a culture variable that I had no idea what it was.

I would think this would work if the computer you are trying to make a package server meets the package server requirements i.e. if you can add the computer as a package server in the console you should be able to do it with this. Can you make this a package server using the console?
