  • 1.  Creating Image via Volume Shadow Copy like GSS 2.5, and real boot partitions

    Posted Apr 04, 2017 11:07 AM

    Hello,

First, pardon me if this subject is actually out there; I did search before posting but did not find anything related. Anyhow, I am getting further into the new version of Ghost (GSS 3.x) and I can't seem to find anything in the new version that allows the hot clone feature as was possible in the previous versions of Ghost. Did this feature get tossed during the creation of the new version or am I missing it?

Also, since we use a desktop lock down tool called Deep Freeze, the so called Automation Folder has not helped our situation where the PC will alternately boot to the PE screen, and then the OS screen. We need to have the option of having a "real" boot partition as we had in previous versions of Ghost. We heard this was being worked on, but have not heard anything in quite some time now. We are a K-12 school district, and this is driving us nuts! We can not use PXE for all too many reasons I will not get into.

    Thanks in advance,

    Eric

In my 3.2 console, under the Samples (Under Jobs), you find a Hot Imaging folder, with two samples. There is a sample script:

    \\%GSS_SHARE_IP%\eXpress\Ghost\ghost32.exe -clone,MODE=create,SRC=1,DST=\\%GSS_SHARE_IP%\eXpress\Images\Windows\%COMPNAME%\%COMPNAME%.gho -sure -blind

    To use Hot imaging
1 In the Ghost Solution Suite console, navigate to Jobs > Hot Imaging.
2 Use the appropriate sample jobs for creating an image:
    ■ Create X64 Image
    ■ Create X86 Image
