Hi, i have a virus on my computer that i think damaged my symantec antivirus. So i thought the symantec antivirus folders that were within the program files folder were infected. So i deleted them. Now when i try to uninstall what's left it won't let me uninstall anymore. It's almost like it's stuck on my computer. Also because of this i cant get a new antivirus so the virus is just killing my computer while im helpless. unless you can help me. please!!!!

    Hi,

You can install the windows install cleanup utility on your machine and then delete the entry of SAV from add/remove programs.

One more thing you can try is to use the setup of SAV. If it detects a previous installation, it will give you can option to repair/remove it.

I would also recommend you to install the latest version, update the virus definitions, and run a full system scan in safe mode with networking.

PLease refer to the link below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Even though the title of this article says "Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003", it can be used for other programs as well.
