  • 1.  Data Mapping from Inventory 6.2 to Altiris 7.1 in UNIX

We have some internal processes that read information from Altiris 6.2 into an external system.
As part of the migration project to Altiris 7.1we must ensure that the impact to another teams in the company is as low as possible.
Our current scope of the migration project is Unix and Linux machines.
I found an article (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/data-mapping-inventory-solution-61-70) which explains the tables mapping from Altiris 6.1 to Altiris 7.0, but is related to Windows devices only.
In a first overview of the tables "exported" from Altiris 6, and looking for them in Altiris 7.1, there are a number of tables/attributes I cannot find.

Can you help me in getting this information?
Tables in Altiris 6 I cannot find in Altiris 7.1:
    Inv_AeX_HW_Physical_Disk, Inv_AeX_HW_Serial_Number, Inv_Unix_Disk, Inv_Unix_Drive, Inv_Unix_SystemID, Inv_Unix_SystemID

    Hi Falquian,

I am facing a similar challenge, though at this point just with Windows.  Joel's article you linked helps, but it seems there are a huge number of changes in this upgrade vs. what we have been used to.  I was really disappointed that the history of installing views against most of the "legacy" tables seems to have been dropped in 7.0 and 7.1 (though it was in the product from 5.0 to 5.5, and 5.5 to 6.0).  I'm wondering if it might not be easier (though somewhat more slowly-performing) to create views on the 7.1 tables that match our old well-known tables and views we're used to from 6.x.  It would (in theory) really speed up migrating reports over too!

A few notes (though I suspect by now you've figured this out)...

The Serial Number is captured as part of Basic INvenotry in Inv_AeX_AC_Identitification.[Hardware Serial Number], alond with Inv_HW_Computer_System in [Identifying Number].  Most of the *_Unix_* tables have been flattened and merged into common tables/views.  Good luck!

    Thanks for your suggestions, Kyle.

Unfortunately, I'm not working anymore in the company in which I was involved in the migration from 6.5 to 7.1, but I hope that this information can help other people with the same scope.
