File Share Encryption

I have a windows 10 laptop that is going to be wiped, and partitions totally re-created using GParted or similar.  Do I need to decrypt first, or can I just proceed?

This article https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH149783.html implies you should decrypt, however it says if not you lose access to other partitions, however I am wiping everything... as it takes several days to decrypt, would be great if I don't have to.

Yeah, if you're wiping the entire disk, there is no need to decrypt first.  The only reason to decrypt first is to retain access to the contents of the disk.  If yhou have no need of the contents, then just reimage.
