  • 1.  Deleted SEPM directory...Help!

    Posted Jul 20, 2017 01:32 PM

Basically was prepping a SEP 12.1.6 MP5 installtion for upgrade to SEP 14 MP2. Whoever did the current install placed it in D:\SEPM 12.1 - i mistook this folder for old SEP installation files and shift+deleted it, wasn't until it told me it couldn't delete some files becuase they were in use that i realised it was the ACTUAL SEP installation folder.

Anyway it appears to have deleted pretty much everything of importance including the Server Private Key Backup and config files etc. Luckily we have a backup server which the SEP clients (all 5000) have failed over to!

Could any one suggest the best way forward, i'm thinking upgrade to SEP14 MP2, but how can i get the clients to fall back to this server if private key information has been deleted?

    Thanks,

    John

    How are the two configured?

They're both running the same version of SEP, only difference between the 2 servers is the DNS name/IP.

Was wondering if i could copy the slf files from the DR server or restore any files using it?

What I mean is, are they configured as replication partners (multiple sites) or for load balancing (single site)?

Ah apologies, i see what you mean now, yes they're replication partners just 2 sites, Primary and DR.

Can't say I've seen this happen before, but, have you tried just running the upgrade to 14 MP2?

Haha me neither! I haven't tried it yet. I did try a repair using the SEP 12.1.6 installation files but it kept complaining with an error about the slf files not being present and the configuration wizard would quit. I've raised a call with support so will see what they come back with. Don't want to run the upgrade just yet incase it buggers my chances of fixing it.

If they've all failed over to the backup then what I'd do is remove the replication entry on the backup then on the main cleanwipe it and then install the same version of SEP as your backup as a replication partner fresh install. wait till it replicates will then copy group structure policy back over to your main. Then once you are happy change the priority on the managers to your main as the first machine they check into. Once you are happy everything is working then upgrade to 14 MP2.
