Deployment Solution

Hi,

we wlould like to use Altiris for Dell thin clients deployment. I installed Altiris, started deployment console. I have my thin client i All Computers section. This thin client has WindowsXPe installed on the flash. I need to make image of this thin client and deploy it through PXE to other Dell thin clients.

On default Altiris_DeploymentSolutionWin_6_9 installation (with PXE server) I draged and droped "Semples\DELL thin clients\windows XPe\Imaging\Create Disk Image". Now i have job status Booting to Automation. My client keeps restarting and after couple restarts I receive "unable boot to automation".

How can I fix this problem. Should i configure PXE using "PXE configuration utility"? How can get image of my thin client to Deployment console?

DS 6.9 SP1 added support for Dell thin clients. If I'm not mistaken there are samples jobs that will help you with this.

before rebooting back to windows xpe i get this message:

Altiris pre-select Automation processing
PXE-MOF: Existing Broadcom PXE ROM

thanks Nelo for answer, yes this one i have installed. But no luck to make it work normally. Yes there are jobs which i am using. I start the job and its status shows this: 

1. Sending Wake-Up-On-Lan signal.
2. Booting to automation.

Then i press F12 to boot to pxe but I unable to boot to pxe. I always get unable "boot to automation" in the status after that.

How can I fix this problem. Should i configure PXE using "PXE configuration utility"? How can get image of my thin client to Deployment console?
Should i configure WinPE or FreeDos booting o something?

it seems this problem is on Dell thin client, i tryed to use hp thin client and it works normally. i created an image, what can couse dell client for this error?

now I have "client.img" file in "C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\Images". How can deploy this image to other thin clients to boot to this image through PXE?

Hi Kovas

I am interested to know how you got your HP clients perform a 'Quick Disk Image' as mine wont!

We have about 60/70 Linux HP T5135's, so far i have got 6 or 7 pointing to the server Deployment Console is installed on.

I can send a job to 'Quick Image...' but i keep getting the 'Unable to boot automation' after a couple of re-boots.

Getting VERY frustrating, i have NO IDEA what to do! I have been trying to get it to work all day now and its doing my head in!

Any help will be 'greatfully' received!
