  • 1.  DeployAnywhere does not finish - stalls?

    Posted May 08, 2009 05:22 PM
    When tryingto run

    GhDplyAw32 /target=D: /ddb=C:\WINDRIVERS\ /eval
    or
    GhDplyAw32 /target=D: /ddb=C:\WINDRIVERS\

It will just sit there - No activity heard from hard drive or cd-rom - indefinetly.

    It says this...

    Using Driver Database = C:\WINDRIVERS
    Target OS = XP
    Target = C:\WINDOWS
    Retargeting...   <or> Performing Evaluation

Why does it do this? Is it license related? These commands are ran manually and not through the console...So I don't understand what it is..

    Your command line is strange.
Target is normaly the %SYSTEMROOT%., in your command, it's D:.....
DeployAnywhere search C:\Windows by default, after the retargetting, il don't find any OS folder on D:\.

For the path of DataBase, C:\Windrivers : is-it really a copy of DDB from the original WinPE drivers data base from your SGSS folder ??

Did you try a deployanywhere task from the console ?

The reason path 'D:' was used was because the drive did not contain a OS install (the drive was brand new out of package), so the Cd was initialized and then the hard drive -so the drive letters were assigned differently.

If you notice when I supple D:\ it still reports D:\Windows as the target directory...The C:\WINDRIVERS is the folder on the disc itself (made by Ghost Boot Wizard).

In my opinion, with my small knowledge of DeployAnayWhere Tasks, this command can't work. Ghdplyaw32 need an OS on the target. After its own analyse, it determines OS type, search in the DataBaseDriver NIC and Storage drivers, to inject them in the OS target.
In general, people use Ghdplyaw32 only after disk or system partition restore.

My english is poor, and perhaps i don't understand your real problem. In this case, sorry !

    Hi,

This looks like the issue discussed in https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/gss-25-deploy-anywhere-whp-dc5800

Could you please have a look? It is a long thread, but find the post that describes how to remove the section NEEDS.
