    Hi,

I am trying to deploy SEP client 12.1 with basic content using webmail and email installation method.  Doesn't basic content include communication settings for the managed client? I have been testing for last couple of hours. I have to import the sylink.xml file separately to the client and then only the client is able to communicate with the SEPM. Is this how it is suppose to work or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks

As long as you didn't export the unmanaged package, it will include the sylink file to connect to the SEPM.

    What's the exact version?

    version 12.1.4.

When I export with All Content, it is working fine and able to communicate with SEPM.

    Thanks,

Basic content just means the client is installed with definitions. Definitions will be downloaded via LiveUpdate once the install is done. Sylink.xml should still be included as it is part of the core files.

    Thanks Brain.

Is it possible to deploy SEP 12.1.4 custom client package using Weblink and Email method at all?  or custom client package can only be deploy using remote push?  I am testing this method because I want the remote user when connected via VPN  to download the custom package using the download link in the email, install the client and connect to SEPM.

I think I have been trying to deploy using new deployment->choose the package->webmail and email which does not contain custom settings.

    Still learning.

    Thanks,

The New Package Deployment option uses the packages that are stored on the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. By default, two packages are available. You can optionally create new packages with custom settings and features. Existing Package Deployment lets you use the packages that have been exported previously.

Yeah, I would say go that route or at least test it if you can

I am still working with Symantec Tech Support with this issue. Everytime there  is a new issue.  This morning when I tried to add a client by using weblink and email method, the user received this message in their email :

"Protection Client package creation failed with Error code :f0090000

Error Description:Unable to generate single EXE.

Please check logs for more details"

Please let me know if anyone has seen this errror before .

    Thanks,

Is this what the client tried to download from the link?

There were no links on the email only with this error on the email content.

"Protection Client package creation failed with Error code :f0090000

Error Description:Unable to generate single EXE.

Please check logs for more details"
