  • 1.  Disable installed modules (Sonar, IPS, Download Protection)

We only use the SEPM product to do AV scanning. We have a policy for this and update the definitions (maybe using the LiveUpdate function; our procedure is to drag-n-drop the definitions local to the server for automatic ingest).

When the systems was set up originally, IPS, SONAR and Download Protection were installed on the clients. We no longer use these modules and would like Symantec to stop identifying their content as 'out-of-date'.

Is there a way to disable these modules from the Manger Console? Or, prevent/stop Symantec from trying to update these modules?

    Thank you!

You can simply disable those components or withdraw the policy from the SEPM console.

Also possible to remove the components via the SEPM by applying a new package, see here:

Add or remove features to existing Endpoint Protection clients

Brian - Thank you for the reply. I was able to follow the directions and redeploy policy. The deployment seemed to work -- capability like Sonar is now disabled -- however the issue of Symantec reporting that Sonar definiations are 'out-of-date' persists.

What happens if you remove the PTP component?

    Hi,

Best option could be to remove those components itself. To remove those features create new custom package and assign it to the groups respectively.

Under client install feature set select featurs you need to create custom package.
