  • 1.  distribution of the Rapid Release via LUA

    Posted Nov 18, 2014 06:48 AM

    Hi All,

In the link below is described how to distribuite the rapid release (JDB file) via SEPM.
    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102607

    I have the following questions:

    1. If in my network I have more SEPM, the JDB file must be saved on all SEPM servers?
    2. Is possible to update the LUA server to the rapid release definition and use LUA policy to distribuite the rapid release?

    Thanks

    Thanks James007 for you reply!
Is possible to deploy the rapid release via GUP in order to deploy the signatures to only few clients (that use the GUP policy) and not to all clients that receive updates via SEPM?

Not possible you can't update GUP manually,

This is not possible. Can only deploy RR from SEPM.

    1. If in my network I have more SEPM, the JDB file must be saved on all SEPM servers?

---> if there are replicating then SEPMs can replicate packages and definitions, if not , then yes you need to have JDB on all the SEPMs

2.Is possible to update the LUA server to the rapid release definition and use LUA policy to distribuite the rapid release?

LUA cannot be updated manually (offline) as of now however it can update from another LUAadmin( which has internet access)

In your infrastructure if you have SCCM or Tivoli you can utilize the third party content distribution option in SEPM

or use the Intelligent updater ( .exe) file and push it via SCCM or Altiris

Distributing the content using third-party distribution tools

    Hi,

What's the current source for the SEPM to take updates? How it used to work in the past?

Ideally LUA must have internet connect connection if SEPM doesn't have that.

Only Certified Definitions gets downloaded to the LUA & SEPM server.

The Rapid Release Defintions needs manual download and installations. The primary focus of Rapid Release definitions is the rapid detection of emerging threats.  These definitions may be augmented later with more robust detection capabilities.

Rapid release definitions are not fully certified, therefore must be manually applied to clients or manually installed to their SEP  Manager server as they cannot be applied via LiveUpdate.
