  • 1.  Do you know if running a second antivirus in conjunction with SEP void and support agreements?

Currently SEP 12.1.7 Installed. Customer wants to deploy Cylance as well in cunjuction to SEP. Regardless of the 2 programs working together does running a second antivirus in conjunction with SEP void any support agreements?

No. You'd just need your own separate agreement/license with Cylance. And as long as your licensed to use SEP then you're good to go.

Thanks Brian, do you know if this is referenced anywhere. I need to show it to the customer who is disregarding our warnings of running 2 AV's and is pushing Cylance.

Not to my knowledge. As long as license is valid than it doesn't matter to Symantec. It's their hardware so they can do what they want with it.

The issue they may hit is with performance and running two endpoint security products.

If you run into any problems by running two AV at the same time, Symantec will not help you as this is not supported. They will just require you to uninstall Cylance.

Btw: With SEP 14 you have machine learning similare to Cylance. There really is no need to run an additional AV software.

The use of third-party antivirus solutions, concurrent with a Symantec solution that contains antivirus protection, such as Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), may cause unexpected behavior and undesired results, and is not supported. You should only run one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts, false virus alerts, and lowered protection. It doesn't void a license by running two concurrently. It's just not best practice/smart to do.

Depends on how you define "voids". It's not supported, so Symantec won't help you if you have two AV running at the same time. So in theory you have support, but if you try to use it support will require you to uninstall Cylance if that causes issues.

It doesn't void the license, meaning Symantec can fine and/or drop you as a customer.
