Does Altiris Deployment Solution 6.9 have any conflicts with Microsoft Direct Access?

    Heya Guys!

    Just have a small question. Does Altiris, specifically Deployment Solution 6.9 SP4, support Microsoft Direct Access?

    We have been trying it out on our network and having some peculiar issues.

    We are testing Microsoft Direct Access remote tool. What we are seeing is that Direct Access uses IPV6 and when we connect our systems on Direct Access, we lose our connectivity with the Dagent, as well as RS agent. We are trying to see if there is any known issues regarding this with Direct Access and Altiris. We also tried using the FQDN instead of IP address in the configuration settings, but once we connect to Direct Access we lose connection again.

    Is Altiris able to use IPV6?
    Are there any firewall issues?
    Are there any ports that need to be opened up on the Symantec side?

    Also, we are not using the SEP firewall, just the Windows firewall.

    Are we able to get CMS, RS and DS to work while connected to Direct Access? We also have a call into Microsoft to see if what they have to say about connectivity.

    Any information about this is highly appreciated.

    Well, after digging around a lot more, I found that all communication is IP based for DS 6.9 and name based for 7.X architecture. Also, Altiris DS 6.9 uses ipv4. There is no support for ipv6 with DS 6.9. Though 7.X supports ipv6. Hmm, never mind. We will probably have to ditch MS Direct Access. Cheers!
