    Hi,

In the following URL, there is not a row of RHEL5 x86(32bit) in the supported platforms list.

Deployment Solution 6.9 SP1 and SP2 supported platforms and system requirements
      https://kb.altiris.com/display/1n/kb/articleContent.asp?aid=44067&n=1&s=&link=#

I want to use  RHEL5 32bit as DS client.
Does DS 6.9 support RHEL5 x86 as DS client?

As far as I remember, RHEL 5 is supported in x86, x64, and Itanium formats as a client. The article you found is a little confusing as it states it "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 x86_64" but I believe that what they mean is x86 and x64 are both supported.

    Hi Pikoshi,
    Thank you for your response.

As a matter of fact, the altiris technical support in Japan told me the article:
    https://kb.altiris.com/display/1n/kb/articleContent.asp?aid=44067&n=1&s=&link=#

They said they cannot support RHEL5 32bit as DS client because there is no
row in supported platform list in the article.

I want the evidence that DS6.9 support RHEL5 32bit as client. Does anyone
    know about it?

    Best regards,

According to the release notes for 6.9 beta 2, which I know is kinda out of date since we have 6.9 SP2 out, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 - Update 1 is supported.  Now it also says below that "Deployment Solution 6.9 supports Redhat Enterprise Server 5 update 1"(http://betanew.altiris.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=ppTMypdR9MQ%3D&tabid=131&mid=811), but fails to mention anything about 32 or 64 bit.  Your best bet to find out if it is supported would probably be to try installing it on a test machine.

    Hi,

I am not very well known into all the differetn kinds of Linux and the versions, but HP Rapid Deployment Pack supports (RDP) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 for x86 according to h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/rdp/knowledgebase/00001005.html

That is for RDP version 3.83, which is basicly DS 6.9 SP1 with MP1. (Build 6.9.365).

So I would think that the answer to your question is yes it is supported (but again keep in mind that my knowledge about Linux is limited).

Yes, DS works just fine with Redhat 5 as clients.  I perform scripted OS installs of it using Deployment Solution for Dell Servers and it works just fine.

x86_64 is the name of an architecture, not a either or designation.  Here's an explanation of the CPU architectures in relation to DS' vernacular:

x86 - Equivalent to i386, i586, x86 compilations of Linux distros.  The good ole' 32-bit chips.
x64 - Equivalent to x86_64 and EM64 (Intel's version) compilations of Linux distros.  This is AMD's 64-bit extensions to the x86 architecture which intel later adopted.  This is also what is most commonly referred to when every you think of 64-bit chips.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86_64
IA64 - This is Intel's 64-bit architecture also referred to as Itanium and is much less common than x86_64.  Usually you will only find these in certain HP machines today.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itanium

Thank you all for your replies.

Does this "Yes" means that DS support RHEL5 "x86(32bit)" as clients?
