  • 1.  Does network mount excluded from scan on Linux

    I didn't find the answer anywhere :

Does the network mount get scanned? Is there an option to globaly exclude network mount from full scan like on the windows side?

We are using 14.0.2349 linux client in a standalone mode but we don't whant them to scan the entire samba server tree.

    Regards

By default, a scan created from the SEPM will not scan mapped drives. A scan created locally by the user will scan mapped drives. So it depend on how it was created but you should be able to configure and exclusion for this if needed.

in general SEP will not be able to recognize mount volume, but if there is shared path or a folder mapped to user machine and when the user schedules a manual scan then all the mapped drive (pointing to a folder in mount volume) will only be scanned not the entire mount volume.

if you want the entire mount volume or a NAS drive to be scanned you will need a different product named syamantec protection engine.
