Protection Engine for Cloud Services

Would you know, or be able to find out, if the Scan engine has the ability to scan binary files which may be stored in a database or if it can only scan actual files (i.e. pdf, doc, xls, etc.). 

OR

Is the binary file standalone or is the binary file in a database and we are scanning the database with the binary file?

If the files are not huge, you can easily read the blob into memory, pass the binary stream to scanner and get result back.

I'm not sure how to stream binary content out of database/stored procedure.

I contacted Symantec Technical Support and they provided the answer below:

"Symantec will be scanning the binary files.The binary files in the database will be also scanned by symantec."
