DS 6.9 SP5 DeployAnywhere MSD Issue

  • 1.  DS 6.9 SP5 DeployAnywhere MSD Issue

    Hello,

We just received HP ProBook 6460b Laptops.  I gathered all the drivers needed in WinPE, as well as DeployAnywhere.  When I try to deploy XP, though, I keep getting a BSOD right before XP loads.  This tells me that it is a MSD issue but I have all the correct drivers available so I'm not sure what could be causing an issue.  Any ideas?

Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller

    Version - 10.5.0.1026, 4/26/2011

I've used the driver from HP's website, as well as the updated one from Intel's site.

We are having the same issues as you. We had a case opened with Symantec but since we had an early engineering sample of the notebook, and the new desktop HP 6200 pro AHCI integrated with no issues, we had the case closed.

I hope you find a solution before our new demos arrive next week.

    Hi Petrucci914,

I'm not familiar with this model, but if you are willing to boot up laptop into Linux automation and run some scripts I can help diagnose this issue with you.

In particular, I'd like to to try and get some hardware data out using the following Linux script,
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/gathering-driver-data-linux-automation

This data will provide all the model data we need to pin down the drivers. If you're not familiar with Linux automation, drop me a PM and I'll talk you through it.

    Kind Regards,
    Ian./

P.S. Yes, I should write something similar for WinPE.... ;-)

Our demo of the HP 6360b will be arriving this wedsday. I will keep you guys posted on whether I can get the production model to function with the AHCI through DeployAnywhere. I would really hate to have to rebuild the HII image for one new model.

As a temporary workaround, you could might try doing an offline update of the Intel IaStor driver,

    Kind Regards,

We just got the demo in and a new issue arrised after we ran the Missing dfriver script in PE. The driver not found is the Intel 82579 NIC driver. And the drive from HP when we import in to Deploy Anywhere gives the error of Fail to Import Drivers, Failed to Copy Driver Files.

This is for the HP ProBook 6360b.

Got a call in with Symantec. They seem to be having issues with the driver for Intel 82579Nic and WinPE. There is no fix for this unless someone releases a different driver in the future.

This along with a host of other issues right now is going to force us to prob look for an alternative product for OS deployment in the future.

I integrated my MSD into the system using sysprep. If you are using sysprep I can help you with this problem as I got MSD to load on XP SP3 on 15 different models with AHCI enabled.

    @Timanator -

Have yo heard back from Symanntec on this?  I've been having the same problem, with the same model.  Looks like for now I'm back to the long way of doing things.

    Thanks in advance,

Hi all -I know it's not the solution you are looking for, but I upgrade mass-storage drivers regularly using the offlline update method I linked above. Saves a tonne of time if you are using the rdeploy engine. If you have any problems using it, just PM me.
