  • 1.  DS 7.1 and SSL - Does it work yet?

    Hi Everyone!

I was more active in these forums about a year ago, when I actually worked with DS 7.1, and needed a LOT of help (due to the buggy nature of the product. Sorry Symantec.) Many of my problems I had in particular were due to SSL not being supported with DS 7.1. Well, now I work with a different client who still uses DS 6.9 and NS 6.0. I'm now trying to install the ITMS 7.1 suite with the latest version of SIM, and it seems to insist that I install SMP with SSL support. As this caused me no end of grief the first time around, I'd like to know - does DS 7.1 SP1a MR1a finally play nicely with SSL? Or am I going to continue to have problems?

One problem I had in particular was due to Malformed HTTP responses. I had to go through all the PECTAgent.ini files for x86 and x64 boot images, and the corresponding file for the Linux boot image, and tell them to use Port 80 vice 443. But, every service pack I would apply would reset the settings to use http://altirisserver:443 and I'd have to go in and manually change them once again.

So, my question to the community at large - does the latest release of DS 7.1 play nicely with SSL yet? Am I ok to click that little innocuous checkbox that caused me so much grief before?

    Thank you kindly,

    Dustin

No this is slated for DS 7.2 (codenamed Lighthouse) which is currently in Beta.  There is a beta group here on Connect I think but it might be closed now, might want to search around here.

SSL imaging does work from some beta testing that some co-workers have tried
