Hi, has anyone actually managed to create and deploy an image of a dual boot system containing Win 10 & Linux?

I have got both operating systems working fine in just one partiton each yet everytime I sucessfully manage to create an image, it either fails to deploy successfully or it simply wont boot.

I think I have tried every combination of switches -ib -ia -ial also -id and -ntexact, I've even tried -ir but nothing works.

I've tried both legacy mode and Eufi mode, secure boot off, fast boot off etc.

If anyone has a clue how to do this, please help.

    Thanks. Mike.

    Hi Mike,

Doesn't seem to be possible, which is unfortunate:

    Thanks!

    Hi Craig,

According to that document, it is supported using a Stand Alone boot:

    Related KB: TECH106776
    Section: Dual booting
Ghost supports dual booting with the Windows operating system and a supported Linux version only in a stand alone configuration.
When using Ghost Multicast Server, GhostCast Server, or Ghost Console to work with a client computer, Ghost does not support dual booting on the client computer.

However, I have tried this serveral times and failed to get it to work.

Is your version of Linux supported?

...that's a much older version of Ghost, not GSS.

That version of Linux isn't supported so no guarantee it would work. Even if it did, Symantec would probably not offer support:

    https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO111528.html

You would have to try this with a supported version of Linux.

The versions of Linux supported are as follows:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.4 (EXT 4)

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3 (EXT 4)

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 12 SP3 (EXT 4)

    SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 x86_64

SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 x86_64

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 x86_64

Solaris SPARC 8, 9 (production agent only)

CentOS Linux release 7.4 (EXT 4)

    CentOS 7.3 (EXT4)

    Supported from 3.2 RU3 onwards.

Well after months of trying, I've just had my first success.

I've tried to capture an image several times using 'Ghost64.exe -ir -or' but everytime, they either fail to boot afterward or I get some error message which prevents deployment.

But today, for the first time, I decided to try using the same switches for deployment as I used to create the image (-ir -or) and it worked !!

Windows 10 (1803) dual booted with Linux mint 18.2  !!

A huge image file but - it works !!

I'm off for a pint now to celebrate !

Great, can you close this off then by marking the solution?

    Thanks!
