  • 1.  ECS installation Error

We recently had an issue that required a re-install of the the Data Collection 10.x product (this error happens for both 10.0 and 10.5). When we run installation of the ECS it completes with this error

Warning! The installation completed with the minor problem(s): Cannot register ECS Service Connection Point object in the active directory. Reason: Access is denied. Context Information: Adding the new Enterprise Configuration Service Connection Point object in Active Directory failed, possible reason: -2147024891 [80070005] (Access is denied.)

I already have a case open for this and figured I'd throw this out to get any other input the group may have for it.

This happens with version 9.x or 10.x ECS installation files

Active Directory / Windows reports will work within the domain but I am not able to setupa MQE to report in another domain.

I've already gone through to remove the ECS and re-install several times. It does not matter if we try a domain admin account or a service account that is only the server admin...same issue

Support is looking at the case though I wanted to throw the issue out there to see if anyone else has seen the issue or had any ideas

While I wasn't able to find out why / what / where the SCP issue came from (I don't recall ever seeing that in 9.0 or below) I was able to get the MQE I needed installed in the other domain's.

I had to install a BVIS on the machine I wanted to have my MQE on. I installed the BVIS and bv-config for Windows. In the configuration of bv-config for windows I clicked on use an existing ECS and pointed the install towards my existing ECS. After that was done I installed a MQE . When the MQE instalation was completed I was able to cancel the install and remove the BVIS and bv-config for Windows.

The MQE stayed and was linked to my original ECS installation. A bit of a long way-work-around but it go me back up and running
