  • 1.  email notifications from unmanaged SEP?

    Posted Aug 23, 2014 10:14 PM

I have unmanaged SEP12.1 on a dozen workstations in my lab, each is on a domain and has multiple local and domain users.

Can I get SEP to email me when a risk is detected?

I don't want to have to manually go to each workstation, view the log, export it, then transfer it. I would like SEP to just email me the notification.

I know SEPM can do this, but these are unmanaged installations (I am only a tiny subset of the greater institution). I know I could do this with Avast, but that is a free product and you get what you pay for.

    Any suggestions?

You cannot get unmanaged clients to email, unfortunately. But perhaps a nice idea to post in the Idea section...

You could always send syslog events to SIEM if you have one. nxlog is a free client that does logging and since SEP has it's own entry in the Windows Event log it is pretty simple to setup and send the logs.

Unmanaged client does not have this functionality.

You can put your idea here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/node/add/idea

Development team does review them & may put their remark as well.
