I have a new Dell Pecision 7710(tag H79VP72) with 500GB 2.5inch SATA (7,200RPM) hard Drive(400-AJBM). After installing the Symantec Endpoint Enryption Framework Client version 8.2.1 and fully encrypting the drive, then rebooting, the machine will not boot up to the Symantec software. It boots up to Microsoft Windows Startup Repair, and then states a hard drive failure. Is it possible to change a "setting" in the F2 Dell "Settings" to dirrect the machine to boot up to the Encryption software? When you tap F2 on boot up, the laptop goes to a "settings" menu with many options. Boot list option is currently on "UEFI" not "legacy". And "Enable legacy option ROMs" is checked. Also, under system config, SATA operation, RAID on is checked. I'm not sure if that caused a problem with the encryption. Also, under System Configuration, Drives, 6 boxes are checked. "These fields let you enable or disable various drives on board." 4 of the boxes are SATA-0, 1 3 4 and another box is: M.2 PCIe SSD-0  and another box is: M.2 PCIe SSD-1

I think that the Encryption software will not work with solid state hard drives and it seems that this Dell might have ths M.2 PCIe SSD-0,1 solid state drives ?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I had the same problem with a previous Dell Precision 7710 model, replaced the hard drive, had it happen again and returned it.

    Thank you,

What OS are you deploying with this machine? If Windows 10 then I believe you need to be on at least 11.0.1.MP1.

Also, if those are NVMe drives then see this link as:

    Hi,

We are enountering the same issue following the install of SEE 8.2.1 MP16 on a Dell Precision 7510 with Windows 7 64-bit.

Would appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this?
