Have new Windows 2008 R2 server install, setup a basic stand-alone data base host. No AD, DNS, etc only installed File Services.
Server worked for several weeks and then started to drop network connection, this has really caused a lot of pain!!!

    Removed EP add/remove - OK

Finally tried second NIC card on Intel server S3210SHLC mother board, everything working just fine.

Intend to perform manual removal of all EP registry keys and will be installing latest Intel network drivers.

Why is Symantec having so many issues???? Would expect better them?

In server it is better to install only AV/AS.( You can install NTP& Device control in server but only after a through check in the test environment.) .I think NTP is the culprit here. Try by installing only AV/AS and see any difference. As refeeq told it is better to install RU5 since is the first and only version officially supported in WIndows 2008.

The latest version of SEP RU 5 has enhaced features to overcome the above mentioned issue.

With NICs that use a TCP offload engine, Symantec Endpoint Protection with Network Threat Protection enabled causes networking problems, such as connection failures and performance degradation
    Fix ID: 1389258
Symptom: Teefer2 causes packet loss with TCP/UDP checksum offload by not preserving checksum data.
Solution: Teefer2 corrected to preserve checksum data.
