  • 1.  EndPoint enabling Windows XP Firewall

We are currently testing EndPoint on a few (25)  workstations on our campus.  We have installed version 11.0.5 and are currently using definitions from 2010-03-16 rev. 003.  When returning to work this morning, all the workstations that have EndPoint installed all of a sudden had the Windows XP firewall turned on.  Due to our network, we have the Windows firewall turned off.  We're trying to track down why this happened and the only common link is EndPoint.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you installing the NTP feature? SEP's installer automatically detects and disables Windows firewalls that are enabled unless a custom install package was created that does not include the NTP.

    wow,

AFAIK, SEP should be installed under WIndows firewall OFF and then when you uninstall it again, it will bring up the firewall ON again ?

Thank you for the response.  We are not installing the NTP feature.  We think that the problem occured after an update on March 16, 2010.  Could the update have caused this issue?

What update was applied on the 16th? If it was a Windows update,  it is possibly related. I highly doubt a definition update would cause this behavior.

Was NTP ever installed, then uninstalled?
