This past weekend while working my computer suffered an attack. I was able to contain the attack and by rapidly going to Symantec webpage utilize the proper tool to localize, contain and eventually stop the attack. However, after completing all steps and ensuring that my computer was safe I went back to work and after approximately two hours I shut down the computer for the night. The following afternoon I restarted and begain work however when I tried to access the Internet I was not allowed to engage. The system was up and running and the communication between computer and Internet was confirmed establishe however I was not allowed access. When I questioned why the system explained that the Internet had been firewalled. I first checked my Windows firewall and its exceptions and it was clear. Then I went to my Symantec to check the firewall there and was amazed to see that on the status page I no longer had a Network Threat Protection icon. I cannot get to my Symantec firewall to determine if it is the culprit blocking my access. Has anyone experienced this and what is the solution?

It's very possible the infection you had this weekend tampered with your Internet Settings (it's very common for them to add a proxy that routes you through their servers).

Start > Control Panels > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset

If not that, then Device Manager > Uninstall your network adapter > Find New Hardware > Reboot

If you should have NTP installed and it's not showing up, then perhaps the SEP install has been corrupted/broken. I'd recommend using Add/Remove Programs to uninstall SEP, reboot, Re-install SEP.

Before you uninstall nad reinstall the SEP client you can try to modify it from Add and remove program. and try to enable the NTP from there if its disabled if not then disable it & let the wizard finish & then try to enable it again.
