  • 1.  Endpoint Manager Update that will recognise Windows7

    Hey,

I'm administrator with a small business (20 people) and until recently all company PCs were Windows XP and i had no trouble with the SEP Manager. What has happened is i've got 3 x Windows7 PCs now to put on the network. i have everything set-up except the Symantic protection on these PCs as the remote deplyment fails and i get a message of "cannot determine windows version" in the discription bar.

Anyway i'm using Symantic Endpoint Protection Manager Version:11.0.4000.2295 and i want to know what version i need to upgrade too so as to be able to manage windows.7 machines. Also it has been a while since i update this so is the a set procedure for update (i.e. can i go straight to the version i want or do i have to update version by version to the one i want)

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim

    Hey Jim-

You will need to migrate to the latest version of SEP which today is 11.0.6300

Your version does not support Windows 7

You will need to update your SEPM to 11.0.6005 (RU6a) first and then to 11.0.6300 (RU6 MP3)

Please do not perform your migrations through RDP sessions unless you have no other alternative; local to the server is always best!

    Cheers!

    Hi,

As you are using 11.0.4x, Symantec started support for windows 7 from 11.0.5x onwards.

You will need to update your SEPM to 11.0.6005 (RU6a) first and then to 11.0.6300 (RU6 MP3)

Any other upgrade path is not recommended nor supported. RU6a is base version while MP3 is maintenance patch.

You can download latest software's at https://fileconnect.symantec.com/

I would suggest upgrade your all the clients also to latest built.

    Hello,

Since you are carrying  Older version 11.0.4000, which is not compatible with Windows 7 machines.  For Windows 7 you need SEP 11.0.5 or higher the latest version which is 11.0.6300

You can download it from https://fileconnect.symantec.com using your serial number.

We recommend you to upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and all clients to Latest version.

Since you are carrying old version, there would be 2 upgrades you will have to go through. Please check the steps below:

    1) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4000  to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a)

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH131653

    2) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a) to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6300 (RU6 MP3)

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH155655
