This is a simple question but I cannot find the answer. Is the client supposed to be installed on the server running the Endpoint Protection Manager Console? If so, how is that accomplished?

Yes. The SEPM itself only manages clientss it does not provide protection. But it also needs to have a SEP client for protection.

You install it just like any other SEP client :)

Yes, export the manage client package from the SEPM console.

    Install SEP client locally.

Note: Install of SEP client required reboot to load all the componenets successfully.

To export package refer this thread: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH96388

SEPM console is just a management console & SEP provides real time protection.

Thank you so much...that worked. I had tried to deploy it within the Manager console and it wouldn't work but going directly to the package did allow for the install.

I really like the latest version of EPPM as it is helping me manage 168 endpoints. Great product!
