Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

Hi everybody!

I have a customer with the following error code when he tries to install SEP SBE  12.0.1001.95 on a Windows XP 32bits:

Error 2318. The file does not exist: C:\Archivos de programa\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\ .

Any help will be very appreciated!

hi,

i actually saw this same error if i remember. if it's a fresh install, try deleting the c:\archivos de programa\symantec\symantec endpoint protection directory, then run the installer again.

i think it errors if it sees remnants of an old installation.

Check Hard Disk for Errors

1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
2. At the command prompt, type chkdsk /f, and then press ENTER.

 And check Automatically fix file system errors.

If it fixes file systems errors during Scandisk and checkdisk.

Need to uninstall and reinstall SEP.

You may need to run the Cleanwipe tool in this case. Why not get your customer to install the latest version of SEP 12 SBE (12.1.1101.401)?

So i run the chkdsk /f and then run cleanwipe. The Cleanwipe did not remove all the symantec folders, which i found very weird. But the customer managed to remove Symantec Ednpoint Protection folder manually. Now when reinstalling from cd, the installer starts loading...but after a while, it rolls back and finish installation as failed to start.

No more error 1053 is displayed.

And yes, i wonder if a new version would show this problem. I should recommend him to try it and see if the same problem shows up. If it shows up, i would guess then that it is a problem of hard drive...if no other suggestion appears!

Sorry for the last comment, i meant "no more error 2318".

After scanning the disk, some file system were repaired and we tried to reinstall the SEP client. first we ran Cleanwipe, but it didnt delete all the folders.

After a while we managed to delete some Symantec endpoint protection folders and run the installer. On the middle of the installation, it rolls back and ends the installation.

I attach the logs in this new situation.

One related question: Can the manager 12.0 manage 12.1 clients?

One related question: Can the manager 12.0 manage 12.1 clients?

-->  Manager 12.0(SPC) can not mange 12.1 client.

Export new fresh package and try to deploy.
