I am getting this error this morning and we restarted everything and still the same error.

Error: Failed to connect the scan manager. make sure  vontu monitor controller services is running

I restarted the enforce and detection server. I restarted all the services but as soon as I click on discovery scanning this error comes up. I am not able to stop any scans. This issue started before the error where we could not stop or pause scans.

Anyone have a solution for this?

    Hi Dijana,

Did you try a reboot of the server itself?

    Thanks!

It shows that our scans are still running but they are not. We are unable to stop the scans.Any other suggestions. I have gone back in and started the vontu monitor controller but it just stops running after a few minutes.

We ended up recovering out last database copy and that fixed the issue. We assumed that it may have been a corrupted database file. We eventually heard back from symantec and they told us that the error was an actual symantec bug and that they realeased a fix for it.
