    Hi just a quick one question.

    Why do I get this error. Upon checking on the knowledge base there is no explanation why SEP clients get this error. Kindly someone explain why do I get it. Is my installation corrupted? If that is the case why do I still get an updated virus definition.  I am trying to upgrade using automatic upgrade from MR1 to MR5. I already read the following links:

    I am also faced same problem By the time I came out by reinstalling the client..

    HI,

    SMCGU.exe is used for the shield icon you see in the system tray. You can check in the event viwwer and see if you see any errors related to Symantec.

    Do you still get the same issue even after upgrading to RU5?

     I had faced this issue in MR4 clients In RU5 till now I am not faced this problem.
